Page rank and your site

Page Rank has dominated some webmasters lives for years now, and yet Page Rank is one of those things that is totally out of your hands, sure you can work towards gaining a higher Page Rank, but when Google change the parameters of what is needed to get an increase in Page Rank, what can you do?

First of all you will need to understand exactly what the rankings mean, this will give you a better idea of how to tackle this.

What Page Rank means:

Page Rank 0-2 - Maybe a new site, with not many incoming links or low quality links, and the site needs working on.

Page Rank 3 - Good site, maybe average but can be improved upon.

Page Rank 4 - Again as above, but possibly with more incoming links.

Page Rank 5 - Google likes the site, it has some good quality incoming links and this is reflected in the Page Rank.

Page Rank 6 - It is very hard to get into this bracket, but basically it is the same as PR5, but with many links from quality sites.

Page Rank 7-10 - Getting here is very difficult, the site must be the best in it field and with thousands of incoming links.

A Webmaster needs to decide whether it is worth spending too much time on Page Rank, when developing the site content could have a better effect on traffic figures.
