The internet is still a baby
It’s unbelievable but the internet is approaching its fifteenth birthday, which was when the first piece of code was placed onto a domain which was powered by CERN, the lab where the internet was first developed.
The man who was behind this was Sir Tim Berners-Lee, and the decision to make the internet free for all was not an easy one to make, CERN wanted royalties, but Sir Tim did not. But according to the inventor of internet it is still in its infancy and we have not seen the full potential of what can really be done on the internet.
As for the future, the internet has brought so many people together from all around the world and from all walks of life that it could grow into the new era of government, or it could go the other way and become the tool of oppression, which is why the internet must always be free and open to all.
