Google not No1 in Russia!

Believe it or not Google is not number one everywhere, so there will be some people rejoicing now! Take Russia for instance their favourite method of search is not Google, when they want to search the net they turn to Yandex!

With a 44% of the Russian search market, they have a commanding platform to launch the company onto the Nasdaq where it is being estimated to be worth around $2 billion, but making the company itself worth around $5 billion in total, the largest tech based flotation from Russia to date.

Google have a 33% slice of the market in Russia and while being number one in Europe they have some serious competition as Yandex is an up and coming number two. This proves that there is a place for some home grown search engines, which offer a more national point of view rather than the international perspective.
