Communities make mistakes too
Owning and running a community can be a wonderful experience, but in order for it grow and eventually start paying its way, there is need to put some work into it. Just leaving it to run itself can only lead to disaster and chaos, not necessarily in that order.
There are several reasons as to why this can go wrong, and by taking notice of these points below you can make your community a successful and desirable place for members to stay and for attracting new members which makes the community grow and take on all the personalities that contribute to it.
Have a look as these and see if they remind you of anything that your community does:
Too Big, Too Soon
Unmanaged Moderation
Lack Of Communication
They’re not ‘users’, they’re MEMBERS!
Feature Overload
Evolve!
Don’t hide it, promote it!
It’s easy to reverse the problem, just undo whatever mistakes you have made.
