Filesharing ok in Germany

Germany is set to become one of the world’s havens for filesharing activities. This comes as the German State Prosecution Service announces that they will no longer be following up most of the legal cases being brought up by copyright holder with regards to file sharing.

 

This means that individuals will be able to get away with it, while any commercial venture which will only be considered if the case is for over three thousand music tracks and two hundred movies, otherwise there will be no case to answer.

 

This is virtually a complete U-turn on what has been happening in the country where most cases have been pursued resulting in the ISP’s having to release details of those involved. Then there is the dreaded letter followed by threats for legal action and claims for compensation.

 

But now it would seem that all that is coming to an end with only the bigger cases being pursued.
