They were supposed to be killer apps

Whenever there is a highly successful website or application there are always going to be the pretenders to the thrown who according to their founders and supporters will be the next killer application.

Like Google for instance this is a business that many have tried to copy and yet Google still survives and is getting stronger, it would seem to have been an easy task to create a search engine that would serve the people, but as of yet this has simply not occurred.

Below are some of the more famous killer applications that never really fulfilled their potential:

MySpace News - The Digg Killer
Cuil - The Google Killer
The Pirate Bay - The YouTube Killer
Wikia - The Google Killer
Google Knol - The Wikipedia Killer
