Facebook awarded £400 million

Members of social networking sites are used to getting the odd the bit of spam every now and then, these are normally messages sent by other members to groups etc. But for users of Facebook spam has been getting a little bit out of hand, although that could be about to change.

On Facebook one of the worst offenders of spam messages is one Adam Guerbuez, the messages are sent through his company Atlantis Blue Capital and cover such subjects as legal marijuana and treatments for male problems.

However, in a civil action against his company under the Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act (CAN-SPAM), Facebook have won a £400 million award, which is not likely to ever be paid. This is because for one reason he is based in Canada and it is extremely difficult to enforce these orders abroad.
