IBM jump on free office suite bandwagon

The US computer company IBM has finally come out with their own version of a free office suite, which they have named Lotus Symphony and it will be compatible with both Windows and Linux.

This application is made up of Lotus Symphony Documents, Lotus Symphony spreadsheets and Lotus Symphony Presentations. The suite users will be able to open, read and rewrite documents that have been originally written in other formats, such as Windows and PDF’s.

In order to obtain a copy user would need to download the suite after going through the registration process, although be prepared for the large 214 mb download.

This is great for users who like a bit of open source software, but it may compare a lot with Open Office!
