The first computer working again
A computer built at Manchester University back in 1952 may have been the first of its kind, but the developers of the new machine which was named the Mark One or occasionally it was referred to as simply “Baby” had no idea what the machine could do.
However, it was found that if they entered hundreds of verbs and nouns of a romantic nature, a basic software programme would then be able to sift through the database and come up with some interesting poems.
Now this programmed as been resurrected by a German computer historian, David Ward who after a short time has come up with a usable version that can be found on his website, alpha60.de. Now users can see how this programme worked and generate their own love poems.
