Brit accused in internet scam
A couple have been charged with organising and operating an internet investment scam. The British man, Bryan John Marsden, 59, and his Malaysian born wife, Phan Sew Ken, 55, pleaded not guilty when they appeared in the Kuala Lumpur court.
They are charged with illegally collecting deposits via two internet based businesses. This took place during 2004 and 2005.
The authorities in the region have been mounting a significant campaign against these practices and have had quite a bit of success too. The country takes a dim view on any crime and has some serious sentences to prove that point.
