USA the Internet slowcoach
Despite having all of those companies and business people who have made so much money from the net, it would appear that the US is getting behind in the internet speed race.
This is in contrast to other countries having steamed ahead with new technology. Although there are no straight forward figures for anyone to actually see exactly what state the US internet is in, it is serious enough for the Energy and Commerce Committee to have approve new legislation that will enable there to be a complete inventory of the existing broadband service. This will include the types, speeds, and subscribers; this will then be compared to the figures that the industry is quoting.
However there was an attempt to do this a while back with the phone industry, but the powerful companies involved forced the government to back down.
