Facebook admits ad tracking

As we mentioned in a previous posting Facebook are suspected of tracking their users online purchases, which in some cases could prove to be embarrassing for some members depending what their purchase have been!

This stems from the Beacon ad system, which tracks users on and off line activities and then broadcasts the results, well Facebook the problem lies with what they are doing with the information that is being transmitted back to its servers?

A spokesperson mentioned that the information is deleted and they do nothing with the data, but this is just making the situation worse, especially as they can track user’s purchases even if they have signed out of the site. This will run and run until it is resolved.
